Which filter type do you need?

Most whole-house setups stage a sediment filter first, then a carbon filter for taste.

Sediment

Removes dirt

First-stage protection — traps grit before it clogs appliances and downstream filters.

Change every 2–3 months.

Carbon block

Removes chlorine taste & odour

Polishing stage — improves taste and reduces chemicals; the tight micron also catches fine sediment.

Change every 3–6 months.

Granular activated carbon

Removes chlorine taste & odour

High-flow carbon stage for taste and odour with less pressure drop than a carbon block.

Change every 3 months.

Pleated sediment

Removes sediment — and it's rinsable and reusable

Reusable sediment stage: rinse and refit several times before replacing. Best cost-per-month on dirty supplies.

Change rinse monthly, replace every 6–12 months.

How to find your size

Twist the housing open and pull the old cartridge. Measure its length and diameter, or check the housing body for a size stamp. "Big Blue" housings are the fat 4.5" whole-house type; slim 2.5" cartridges are the standard under-sink and point-of-use size. Match both numbers and the micron rating printed on the old cartridge.
